ALTERNATIVE rock gods The Smashing Pumpkins will rock the Gold Coast, headlining a 1990s-flavoured one-night music extravaganza.
The Billy Corgan-fronted group, which was one of the biggest bands of the 1990s, will close out their two-week, 10 city The World is a Vampire Festival on April 30 with a show at the Southport Broadwater Parklands.
Supporting them will be fellow 90s alt rockers Jane’s Addiction and Australian bands Amyl & The Sniffers, RedHook, Battlesnake.
And music won’t be the only aspect of the event, with professional wrestling matches staged between the Wrestling Alliance of Australia and Billy Corgan’s own National Wrestling Alliance.
The tour, presented by One World Entertainment, will also visit Wollongong, Bribe Island, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne.
The Smashing Pumpkins have been one of rock music’s premier outfits for more than three decades, producing hit albums Gish, Siamese Dream, Pisces Iscariot and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
The tour marks 30 years since the release of Siamese Dream, the band’s second album and commercial breakthrough, which featured key songs Today, Cherub Rock and Disarm, and comes amid the release of its 12th record – Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale at 8am Thursday and general release tickets on Friday from 11am.
