The new incarnation of 80s pop icon Roxette will tour Australia in 2025, with southeast Queensland set to host one of its gigs.
Co-founder Per Gessle will be joined by Swedish singer Lena Philipsson in the concert series, which will play eight gigs across Australia in March, with the finale being held at Mt Cotton’s Sirromet Wines, owned by Gold Coast business figure Terry Morris.
The tour will come six years after Roxette lead singer Marie Fredriksson died of cancer in late 2019.
The band will play its major hits, including Dressed For Success, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Fading Like A Flower, and number one singles The Look, It Must Have Been Love (but it’s over now) and Joyride.
Gessle said: “This is all about my Roxette songs, this huge bundle of music and lyrics I’ve been writing for well over three decades.
“I’m not starting a new duo. Marie will always be irreplaceable.
“However, I’m really lucky to have found an amazing voice and a brilliant performer in Lena Philipsson.
“I co-wrote Lena’s first major hit back in 1986 and she’s one of the brightest shining stars Sweden has ever known. I’m extremely proud she wants to join me in my trek to keep the Roxette legacy alive.”
It will come nine years after Roxette’s final live shows before Fredriksson’s death.
Pre-sales for the tour begin at 10am on May 8 and will run until May 10.
General admission tickets going on sale the same day at 10am.
