She is known for her flawless royal style and now Princess Mary has gone back to her roots, wearing a tangerine power suit from an Australian designer.
The Tasmanian-born royal, 50, sported a blazer, trousers and cami from Melbourne-based label Scanlan Theodore, co-ordinating the coral-hued outfit to attend the Dutch-Danish business conference in the Netherlands.
It is understood Mary purchased the outfit herself during a recent social visit to Melbourne, where she is believed to have shopped at Scanlan Theodore’s boutique in the up-market suburb of Brighton.
The Scanlan Thodore tailored jacket is priced at $900, while the matching wide-legged trousers retail for $550. Underneath, Mary sported a crepe camisole, $200, and accessories with the brand’s triangle trim belt, $200.
Princess Mary teamed the outfit with a camel-coloured quilted Chanel bag, worth about $3800, and a pair of cream-coloured Gianvito Rossi stilettos.
Demand for the outfit has spiked since Mary wore it, with size 6 in the jacket already sold out, and sizes 8 and 12 in “low stock”.
It is believed Scanlan Theodore has already fielded a string of sales from Denmark-based shoppers in the wake of Mary’s stylish outing.
Princess Mary is a long-time fan of Scanlan Thodore, having worn the label – known for tailored pieces and signature crepe knits – on multiple occasions.
“Scanlan Theodore is proud to have Princess Mary dressed in the brand,” a Scanlan Theodore spokeswoman said in a statement.
“There is a consistent interest around her style choices and popularity for the pieces she wears.
“Crafted as a contemporary interpretation of feminine tailoring, the suit is designed with Scanlan Thodore’s signature aesthetic, infused with a bold coral hue to uplift winter ensembles.”
During the royal visit, Princess Mary delivered a speech at the Seminar on Smart Hospitals and Future Health Care, which she attended with her husband, Prince Frederick.
The royal couple also visited Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland and The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, as part of their itinerary.
