ARMED with snorkels, flippers and maybe a blow up flamingo or two, more than 1000 wannabe festival goers have shared their plans to ‘storm’ the new Coolangatta festival SandTunes.
In an escapade similar to that of the recent Storm area 51 movement, a satire Facebook page titled “Let’s storm SandTunes they can’t stop us all” has emerged.
The page, dedicated to helping the masses to sneak into the festival on November 30 to avoid paying the $400 ticket fee, has attracted hundreds of hilarious posts about the price.
Others have jokingly shared their plans to swim into the festival to see the headline act, rapper Travis Scott.

One of the page organisers, Isaac Wilson said the event page was set up for a laugh.
“Purely a joke with no real intention behind it,” Mr Wilson said.

“I mean originally I was definitely excited for it but alway knew the ticket prices were never going to be attractive for people around my age.”
He said he was surprised to see the popularity of the page, with over 3800 people registering their interest and 1300 clicking “attend”.

“I don't think I will be attending, would rather spend my money at other festivals with bigger line-ups for less than half the price of those tickets,” Mr Wilson said.
Despite complaints about ticket prices, events veteran Billy Cross said prices could be expected given the popularity of the acts.
“I can’t comment on the price specifically, but on this I can say is you have the biggest urban
artist in the world playing here,” Mr Cross said.

“This is an exclusive Australian show for Travis Scott. This wouldn’t have been the only event he was approached to go to.
“He is not going to come cheap. A promoter is not going to name their price for the sake of it. There are also single-day passes now, which gives people a cheaper option.”
Mr Cross also got a chuckle out of the plans to storm the event.
“I love their enthusiasm but I think there is going to be quite a bit of security and police there on the day.”
SandTunes organisers did not respond to requests for comment.
