Oscar nominated actress Naomi Watts has paid heartfelt tribute to her beloved grandmother on social media, who has died at the age of 101.
The Mulholland Drive star, who is best friends with Nicole Kidman, took to Instagram stories to share the heartbreaking news.
“Our Granny Watts made it to 101 and a half,” Naomi captioned a photo of her paternal grandmother holding an envelope from King Charles.
“She got her letter from the king to celebrate her century, last night she rested easy,” she wrote with two praying emojis.
King Charles sends telegrams (now in the form of a personalised card) to people who turn 100 as part of a longstanding royal tradition, signifying a gesture of recognition and congratulations for reaching the milestone.
In two other photos Naomi is pictured celebrating her granny’s 101 birthday.
“Farewell granny watts 101.5 years old!!”
It comes as Naomi lost her other grandmother in August this year.
‘Nanna’ Nikki Roberts passed away at the age of 99 after having a “massive stroke”, the actress posted on Instagram.
Nevertheless, Nanna Roberts, who Watts described as “the OG boss lady” had celebrated her 99th birthday with four generations of the family gathered in her honour. “She is the matriarch of our family and the reason we all work so hard,” Watts posted at the time.
Watts, who is married to actor Billy Crudup was seen last week in New York filming the new Ryan Murphy series All’s Fair, with Glenn Close and Judith Light.
