Western Sydney tradie Elias Daher is first Australian to do music collaboration with Mariah Carey

A Sydney tradie who was DJing on the weekends has landed a life-changing deal with superstar Mariah Carey. See how he did it.

A tradie who was DJing on the weekends has soared from construction sites to musical heights after landing a collaboration with pop queen Mariah Carey.

Elias Daher’s music career took off during Covid lockdown, but it was his remix of Mariah’s 2005 song Circles that caught the global icon’s attention.

After posting his tunes online, the Aussie producer got an email from Ministry Of Sound saying they wanted to work on a track and signed a deal with him.

“The song that Mariah Carey is on, we didn’t think she was going to be on it. We were just hoping to redo it,” Daher, from Western Sydney said.

“But she ended up hearing it and she loved it and wanted to be part of it and I can’t believe that’s happened.

“I’m the first person in Australia to collaborate with her and one of the first people in the world to have Mariah Carey on a house music song.”

Daher, who goes by the name DJ e-Lie, released his anthemic tune Circles with the Grammy-winning megastar in June, which she has since performed at her concert.

On Spotify alone, he has hit nearly 1.4 million streams, has had more than 52,000 streams on SoundCloud and garnered more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

After a successful start to his music career, DJ e-Lie has since quit his full-time job to focus on making more music with the Ministry of Sound.

“For me to make something that Mariah Carey loves goes to show it’s something worth pursuing,” he said.

“She is like the Queen and doesn’t really like much so for her to like it and want to feature with a boy who was born in Auburn and raised in Greystanes, it’s a big achievement.”

“Everyday I'm in the studio working on music. I’m doing anything to get inspiration like going for a walk or listening to old songs from the 70s and 80s.”
