Aussie music icon Paul Kelly makes huge announcement

One of Australia’s most beloved music stars has made a massive career announcement, in news that will delight fans.

Legendary Australian musician Pauk Kelly has announced he’s heading out on his first-ever arena tour.

The 17-time ARIA winner will play at the biggest venues of his decades-long career, making stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne before heading to New Zealand.

The To Her Door singer’s tour aligns with the upcoming release of his new album, Fever Longing Still, which is set for release on November 1.

Kelly, 69, will be supported on the Australian leg of his tour by multiple Grammy winner Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, as well as Fanny Lumsden.

It all kicks off on August 26 at RAC Arena in Perth, moving to Brisbane Entertainment Centre on August 29, Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on August 30, Adelaide’s Mystate Bank Arena on September 2, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on September 4, and finishing up at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on September 6.

Kelly will then head to New Zealand, playing venues in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland across three nights.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale on Wednesday 30 October at 3pm, local time, via Frontier Touring’s website.

Presale begins Monday, October 28, for Frontier members.

It comes just weeks after the first trailer dropped for the film adaptation of Kelly’s legendary Christmas anthem.

How To Make Gravy will be the first ever original feature film released by local streaming platform BINGE and is based on the Aussie musician’s much-loved song of the same name.

Just like the song, released in 1996, the film tells the story of a newly imprisoned man named Joe (played by Daniel Henshall), who writes a letter home to his family as they prepare to celebrate their first Christmas without him.

Since the song’s release in 1996, it has become part of Christmas playlists in many Aussie households. In 1997, it was nominated for Song of the Year at the ARIA awards, but lost out to Savage Garden’s Truly Madly Deeply.
