Taylor Swift drops another racy photo for new album
Taylor Swift shows off a daring lingerie look for the release of another vinyl as part of her Life of a Showgirl collection.
Taylor Swift continues to delight her fans by sharing another limited vinyl.
The pop star has been dropping music, merchandise and exclusive photos since she announced the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, earlier this month.
On Friday (AEST), she posted a gleaming new album cover, draped in gems and yellow feathers, for her latest drop.
The chart-topper shared on Instagram: “The Life of a Showgirl: Baby, That’s Show Business Vinyl Collection is available now on my site for 48 hours while supplies last.
“Album Producers: Max Martin, Shellback and Taylor Swift.”
She credited the two photographers, who are responsible for the rest of her photo shoot, as Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.
The pair have stunned Swifties with the collection of shimmering snaps after being praised for their work on the Reputation album.
In the newly released cover, Swift is seen wrapped up in a silver gem-studded set with matching head gear and wrist cuffs.
She’s seen posing with yellow feathers next to others show girls in similar sparkling get ups.
Fans on X expressed their excitement over the vinyl, which is on sale for just under $50, saying this album cover was definitely a “favourite.”
“I fear nobody is ready for the music video, these visuals are already incredible,” a Swiftie shared.
Another agreed: “This cover is genuinely my favourite so far, stunning.”
“Motherer she looks so good,” one fan purred.
However not everyone was so keen on the announcement.
The 14-time-Grammy Award winner has faced criticism in the past for pricing up her merchandise.
Some called out the idol for the“ shameless cash grab” and complained that the limited time frame to buy albums encourages young fans to make impulse decisions.
“Imagine selling overpriced vinyls with feathers and glitter while pretending it’s art,” one X user slammed.
“Real musicians don’t need circus costumes to stay relevant.”
Another added: “Call it art if you want, it’s still corporate strip tease for cash.”
“Milk em for all you can get!” a third joked.
Whether Swift shared a limited edition to create a buzz over its exclusivity, or to fund a showgirl tour, it’s clear it’s a huge success.
The All Too Well artist released two limited-edition LPs last week, with both selling out within an hour.
The Baby, That’s Show Business Vinyl Collection is available with glittering blue text on the front or in a dazzling yellow theme. Both have already sold out.
There a lot of speculation about what the The Life of Showgirl album will be like on social media.
Friend Zoe Kravitz praised the album, claiming it is “fantastic, of course. No skips,” to ExtraTV.
It’s expected to be a packed with dramatic, upbeat, pop anthems to compliment the bold showgirl-glam theme.
And of course, true to Taylor fashion, fans are hoping to get the latest gossip on Swifts relationships.
Regardless, Swift’s 12th studio album, which is set to come out on October 3, will send shockwaves through the music industry when it arrives.
SWIFT’S MILLION-DOLLAR OUTFITS UNVEILED
Taylor Swift’s gem-studded album cover outfits cost upwards of $1.4 million, according to an expert.
The glittering get-up was used on The Life of a Showgirl photo shoot, which was released to adoring fans last week.
In the series of sparkling images shared on Instagram, Swift models a range of ensembles all encrusted with various jewels.
Experts have totted up how much her wardrobe might cost, and the figure is staggeringly high.
Maxwell Stone, of jewellery company Steven Stone jeweller, said: “Together, these jewels create a symphony of sparkle, turning Taylor into the ultimate crown jewel of The Life of a Showgirl.”
The primary album cover image shows Taylor sporting a cutout body shirt, peppered with gems, and with a matching ring and bangles.
This vintage stacked bracelet is thought to be created by high-end New York jeweller Stephanie Gottlieb.
On Instagram, the jeweller shared one of Swift’s photos with the caption: “Best believe she’s still bejewelled.
“She looks stunning – wearing one of our vintage bracelets on the cover and another on the tracklist page!
“We couldn’t be more excited for this album!”
The studded piece is made with real diamonds and comes with a price tag of $49,000.
“On the cover and throughout the promo images of The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift shines in a dazzling constellation of extraordinary jewels, each piece chosen with the meticulous eye of a true curator of glamour,” Stone continued.
“Her signature style is unmistakably elevated by Lorraine Schwartz, whose custom creations she has remained loyal to over the years.”
Lorraine Schwartz is popular with a range of celebs, including Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, and Swift is said to have a soft spot for her as well.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, the hitmaker donned a necklace in the shape of a ‘T’ from the jeweller.
The T was said to honour the singer’s boyfriend, American football star Travis Kelce, whose podcast she announced her new album on.
In another image, the pop star also rocks a pair of Ethos Maria’s ruby drop earrings which match her burgundy body shirt.
It’s estimated that these bits of bling are 38.88 carats.
The Cruel Summer star wore “pave diamond cuffs,” a “sapphire-and-diamond” bracelet and “sculptural triangular drop earrings,” according to Stone.
She also features butterfly-themed diamond studs by Anabela Chan and Le Vian’s Art Deco-inspired Vanilla Gold ring
He concluded: “After examining the custom pieces and factoring in the estimated values alongside the retail prices of the rest, Taylor is likely adorned in around $920,000 [USD] worth of jewellery.”
Swift is no stranger to a hefty price tag.
The star reportedly own a Dassault Falcon Private jet, which is valued at around $68 million.
She previously owned two, but decided to downsize last year according to Business Insider.
Swift also been seen driving a range of high end cars an also owns a vintage guitar collection.
‘TRASHY’: SWIFT ALBUM PHOTOS DIVIDE
A seductive photo to promote the vinyl release of Taylor Swift’s new album The Life of a Showgirl appears to be too hot to handle for some.
In the sizzling picture, Swift is seen sporting a glittery one-piece with matching gloves and fishnets.
With glam make-up and a her iconic blonde hair over one shoulder, the star gives a sultry glance at the camera.
She captioned the post: “The Life of a Showgirl: The Shiny Bug Vinyl Collection is available now on my site for 48 hours.”
Swifties were quick to respond to the sultry pose on X, which has since racked up more than 7 million views on the platform.
Her fan base was so impressed by the photo shoot they appeared to forgive Taylor for not releasing a single.
One wrote: “We wanted a single but you served so it's a win.”
Another agreed: “Most of us were looking for a single … but yeah these visuals are great.”
More loyal supporters showered the superstar with praise.
“This cover!”
“Wow. Hot.”
More shared screenshots of them purchasing the vinyl album on Swift’s site.
However the flirtatious image, taken by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, also received criticism.
Many expressed their concern over the sexual nature of the image and some questioned Swift as a role model.
One X-user even asked if this meant the Shake It Off star had an OnlyFans account – a site used to share explicit content.
“Is this what we want 14 year old girls to dress up as on their fun play days w their friends,” one asked.
“WTF – call me oil fashion but this looks tacky.”
A second agreed: “This is the role model for young girls?
“You need Jesus.”
“Taytay has OF now?” A third X- user questioned.
The comments on Swift’s Instagram have been disabled, as they are with all her posts, but the discourse continued on TikTok where fans were “gutted” the album was only available for a few hours.
One frustrated Aussie complained that they keep missing the star’s limited merchandise
“I keep missing releases in Australia because I'm asleep,” they fumed.
Another added: “I missed out the purple one I’m so gutted.”
This is isn’t the only time Swift has been caught up in a controversy over her new album.
Kylie Minogue supporters were quick to point out the similarities between the singer’s Showgirl: The Greatest Hits era album cover and Swift’s new Life Of A Showgirl image.
Both celebs are sporting silver gem-encrusted garments in their albums, including head gear and bold make-up.
Swift shared feather-clad get up last week but some claimed she had ripped off Minogue.
However the iconic Aussie was quick to shut down the negative speculation, praising “all my fellow hard working showgirls.”
The Aussie artist said: “When all your friends start sending you your Showgirl mems!!! Awww. “Showgirl life is ‘a thing’, multi dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle.”
