Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed that he suffered a stroke, which left him temporarily unable to use one of his arms.

The musician, 77, took to social media Wednesday morning to share the scary news with his fans.

Despite the scary nature of the incident, May insisted that he’s still able to play the guitar despite the “little health hiccup.”

“I’m here to bring you some good news — the good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,’ he said, twiddling his fingers for emphasis,” he said in a video on Instagram.

“I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke.”

He praised medics for their “fantastic care,” adding, “I didn’t want to say anything at the time because I didn’t want anything surrounding, you know. I really don’t want sympathy.”

“Please don’t do that because it’ll clutter up my inbox and I hate that,” he continued.

“The good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing. I’m grounded.”

“I’m not allowed to go out – well, I’m not allowed to drive, not allowed to get on a plane, not allowed to raise the heart rate too high … but I’m good,” he added.

It’s not the first time the legendary star has suffered a major health scare.

Back in 2020, he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital in “agony”.

May shared with fans that doctors found he had three blocked arteries after he felt pain in his chest that lasted about 40 minutes.

The legendary musician said he had been “very near death” without realising, as doctors found he had three congested arteries.

He said: “In the middle of the whole saga of the painful backside, I had a small heart attack. I say small, it’s not something that did me any harm.

“It was about 40 minutes of pain in the chest and tightness. It’s that feeling in the arms and sweating.”

After consideration from doctors, he opted for three stents to put in.

The musician later took to Instagram to also urge people to “really look after ourselves as we get to the autumn years”.

He told his fans: “What seems to be a very healthy heart may not be.”

At the time, he admitted he was baffled by the heart attack: “I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t have high cholesterol and I was exercising through the tour, so why did it happen?”, he questioned. “At least I now have a heart that is working far better than it was.”
