Ozzy Osbourne has penned a heartbreaking update to his fans, announcing he can no longer tour.
The iconic Black Sabbath frontman has built a formidable solo career in the decades after leaving the band, but has now had to pull up stumps as one of rock’s most adored heavyweights.
Osbourne said after a series of corrective operations, his health is still not in shape to travel across the world for a final tour in front of his millions of fans.
He said the announcement “is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans”.
“As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine,” he said.
“My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.
“I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required. B
“elieve me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F**** ME UP, more than you will ever know.
“Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way.”
Ozzy’s fateful fall occurred in spring 2019, when he went to the bathroom in the middle of the night at his Los Angeles mansion.
He aggravated long-term injuries sustained after breaking his neck in a quad bike accident at his UK property 16 years previously.
As a result, he needed extensive surgery last year in order to get back on his feet.
He had initially hoped to be well enough to perform, declaring last year “he‘ll be back on tour if it kills him”.
The star revealed in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson‘s disease, but hid it from the public for a year before opening up about it.
