Oasis’ disappointing Aussie snub revealed

The head of touring company Live Nation has revealed a sad truth about Oasis’ plans for touring Australia next year.

Oasis have extra dates to their tour of Australia due to 'phenomenal demand'

Oasis are making a comeback next year and fans in Sydney and Melbourne have been scrambling to get tickets this week.

When the band visit Australia, they’ll be performing in both cities before heading to Japan to continue their tour.

Sadly for many Aussies, the band won’t be visiting the likes of Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide, and also have no plans to travel to New Zealand.

It turns out the band were given the opportunity to visit many other Australian cities, but the brothers’ resounding response was essentially “no, mate”.

“They’re booked to go to Japan after Sydney so there’s no extending on to other States,” veteran concert promoter Michael Coppel told the Courier Mail.

“We offered them the opportunity of doing [more shows] in other states but they didn’t want to take that up; they were happy just to be doing Melbourne and Sydney.”

Pre-sale tickets for the Australian leg of the British band’s reunion tour went on sale on Monday, but many have been left aghast at the cost of the tickets.

Some fans have revealed that they had to spend more than $300 for a ticket.

According to Live Nation, the average price for concert tickets in Australia in 2024 was $125, which makes the Oasis tickets more than twice the average in some cases.

Australian Oasis fans struggle with pre-sale tickets

As the sales went live, fans rushed to social media to lash out at the “crazy” cost of tickets.

“Did anyone get pre-sale Oasis GA tickets in Melbourne that weren’t $330?,” complained one fan.

Another wrote on X: “$250 minimum for Oasis. Apparently, the $140 advertised online quickly went to $180, which was then for only an odd single seat. Nosebleed, last row $250 minimum. Can’t justify that!”

Meanwhile, the gigs have been announced as a “major event” in Victoria, meaning tickets can’t be resold for more than 10 per cent their original value.

Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said the state has a “very clear stance on ticket scalping”, urging people not to “resell tickets to concerts at inflated prices”, or face fines.

“The Oasis reunion tour will be one of the biggest concerts to come to our shores in 2025 – and we’ve declared their Melbourne concerts as major events to make sure fans can see the Gallagher brothers live at a fair price,” Mr Dimopoulos said.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan also declared ticket scalping of the event a “champagne super-no” in a post to Instagram.
