Speculation mounts over Australia hosting Tomorrowland festival in 2026

Aussie music fans are in a frenzy at the possibility of one of the world’s most famous festivals which attracts 400,000 revellers each year making its Australian debut.

Speculation is mounting over Australia hosting Tomorrowland next year, one of the world’s most famous electronic dance music festivals which attracts some 400,000 revellers from around the globe annually.

Attendees at this year’s festival in Belgium last weekend spotted an installation that appeared to indicate a world map lining the path to Tomorrowland’s CORE stage.

Melbourne was among one of the destinations listed, suggesting the Victorian capital could host the festival in November 2026.

A video showing the map also circulated on TikTok and quickly went viral, racking up 120,000 likes, as Aussies went into a frenzy at the possibility of the bucket-list festival making its Australian debut.

Festival organisers were yet to release any confirmation.

The video also suggested the festival could be held in Los Angeles in May 2026.

Tomorrowland was expected to make an official announcement, likely toward the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Tickets tend to sell out quickly as hundreds of thousands of people from around the world look to attend the bucket-list festival.

Aussie Sharni Bustin had purchased her tickets for this year’s Tomorrowland as soon as they went on sale, about six months in advance.

The 30-year-old from Melbourne had paid $1600 for her ticket in December last year and planned her four-month dream European trip around the “once-in-a-lifetime” festival.

Tomorrowland’s CORE stage first made its debut in 2017 at the main festival and has become an iconic feature at Tomorrowland Brazil and Tomorrowland Winter.

Tomorrowland is held annually in Boom, Belgium, attracting 400,000 festival goers from around the world.

It was first held in 2005 and has grown to become one of the world’s biggest music festivals.

A fire destroyed the famous main stage just two days before the 2025 event was due to start, but a replacement was built ensuring the show could go on.

Tomorrowland spin-off festivals have previously been held in the US, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.
