Organisers of an electronica festival in Canada will offer patrons free drug testing to make sure their pills are pure, in a high-minded effort to reduce the chance of overdoses.
Starting Friday, concertgoers at the three-day Evolve Festival in Nova Scotia can submit a small sample of their “mind enhancers” to festival staff, who will provide them with a breakdown of the chemical makeup, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Producers are trying to avoid the kind of tragedy that rocked the New York City music festival Electric Zoo in 2013, when two people in their 20s died from fatal doses of ecstasy.
Three Evolve fans were hospitalised last year for taking a different drug than what they thought they had taken.
