Kylie Minogue joins A-listers as she signs to United Talent Agency in North America

As Australia’s pop princess Kylie Minogue celebrates the US success she’s chased for decades, a newly signed deal has put her among Hollywood’s biggest names.

Kylie Minogue has signalled a Hollywood Era is in her future plans with a new deal with one of America’s biggest talent agencies.

As the Padam Padam star finally enjoys the American success she has chased for decades, Minogue has joined A-list musicians with acting sidelines including Post Malone, Bad Bunny, Lizzo and Christina Aguilera at United Talent Agency.

Her new deal will see UTA representing her not only for concert tours and live performances in North America but also acting opportunities worldwide.

Minogue is clearly keen to capitalise on her new-found American popularity in the wake of Padam Padam’s viral success last year, her sold-out Vegas residency and Grammy win earlier this month.

Australian correspondent for global music trade bible Billboard Lars Brandle said Minogue has always harboured ambitions for her pop career in America – she signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in 2013 in an attempt to bolster her US fortunes – but the timing had never worked in her favour.

Minogue had two hits in the US (before Padam Padam), but was unable to maintain her career momentum there after either of them; her cover of The Loco-Motion went to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988, and Can’t Get You Out of My Head peaked at No. 7 in 2002.

She also won her first Grammy in 2004 for Best Dance Recording with Come Into My World.

“Kylie always had the ambition to crack America, but the timing was never right. She has the U.K. and Australia in her pocket, but those countries are islands compared with planet America,” Brandle said.

“After splitting with her long-time manager Terry Blamey at the end of 2012, Kylie signed with Roc Nation for management and many thought Kylie would take the next step stateside as a movie star. It didn’t pan out, and both parties parted ways two years later.

“You get the sense that the planets are now aligned for Kylie. That extended residency in Vegas, her second Grammy Award, the deal with United Talent Agency (UTA) for live representation in the U.S. and Canada and acting roles worldwide, a performance at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, and she’s the recipient of Billboard’s Women in Music Icon Award.

“Kylie will be in the faces and ears of millions of Americans throughout the year”.

Brandle said the fact the UTA deal included representing her for acting opportunities is a strong signal she may take the film and television route to boosting her profile in the US.

Her most recent acting project was her scene-stealing cameo in the Binge series Strife.

“We sometimes forget that Kylie’s star rose as an actor, as Charlene in Neighbours. Feature film roles have followed, including several leading roles earlier in her career,” Brandle said.

“Kylie’s team will be sifting through scripts, without doubt. UTA is also her live representative for the U.S. and Canada. It’s not unthinkable that Kylie will finally reach ‘triple-threat’ status in the U.S. as a top-shelf recording artist, performer and actor.”

This flurry of opportunity in America, combined with her concert box office might in the UK, would suggest Australian fans will have to wait until next year to see our Kylie back on stages here.

Minogue has also announced she is headlining a concert as part of the Hyde Park summer series in London in July and would probably announce a UK and European tour in support of her Tension record ahead of that show.

There are no plans within the next few months to announce a homecoming tour.

“If Australia does miss out, and we don’t yet know what her itinerary looks like, chalk it down to the unfortunate price of success,” Brandle said.

“Don’t count out Kylie coming in 2025 if it doesn’t happen this year. It’s not uncommon for major arena or stadium tours to stretch over two or even three years.”
