Singer Sabrina Carpenter has cried tears of joy after being nominated for six Grammy Awards.
The consistent hit maker shared a video via Instagram on Friday of her watching the live 2025 Grammy Awards nomination announcement from her tour bus with some pals.
Everyone squealed with excitement after it was revealed that Carpenter had been nominated for best pop solo performance, best new artist, song of the year and record of the year.
In a second video, she broke down in tears after her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet was nominated for album of the year alongside Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. She is also nominated for best pop vocal album.
“This is the first year I’ve watched the live stream where I heard my name!” Carpenter, 25, said in her caption on the Instagram post.
“I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life, so I am filled with gratitude.”
Carpenter and her fellow pop sensation Chappell Roan are the only artists nominated in all four of the super-competitive record of the year, best new artist, album of the year and song of the year categories.
While the singer is thrilled to be nominated for her first Grammy trophies, she poked fun at her best new artist nomination, since she’s been in the music industry for a decade.
Carpenter released her debut album, Eyes Wide Open in 2015 and has released numerous other albums since.
“I’m the best old artist ... I’ve been here,” she joked after the nomination was announced.
Carpenter’s fame has skyrocketed, however, in the last few years, particularly upon the 2022 release of her album Emails I Can’t Send.
The deluxe version of the record dropped in 2023 and included her first Billboard Hot 100 hit, entitled Feather.
This year, Carpenter achieved her first number one album with Short n’ Sweet and joined her close pal Swift, along with Ariana Grande, as the only women to chart at least three songs in the top five of the Hot 100 simultaneously.
Over the summer, Carpenter said that despite the several albums and two EPs she previously released, this latest album felt like her sophomore effort.
“It’s my second ‘big girl’ album,” she told Variety in August.
“When it comes to having full creative control and being a full-fledged adult, I would consider this a sophomore album.”
Following her nominations, Carpenter’s Irish boyfriend, the actor Barry Keoghan, called her “absolutely brilliant”.
He said on SiriusXM, on Friday: “I don’t know anyone who works as hard. I’m in awe of watching her work.”
