Former Friens star Courteney Cox has ended all future dance challenges with her latest video.

The US actress hopped on board a viral TikTok trend currently sweeping social media, which sees kids ask their parents to “dance like it’s the 80s.”

Cox, 59, had an ace up her sleeve. Not many people can compete with her world-famous 80s dance moment, which saw her feature in the music video for Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark - released before she shot to fame on Friends a decade later.

In the 1984 music clip, Springsteen is pulls Cox onstage for a dance-off in front of a roaring crowd.

Taking to social media Monday, Cox released her own version of the dance trend, sharing a clip of herself awkwardly grooving to Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat with the caption, ‘Asking my mom how she danced in the 80s.’

She then unzips her jacket to reveal the Springsteen T-shirt she wore in the music video, recreating her moves as the number 1 hit begins playing.

The clip then transitions to footage from the 40-year-old music video, which marked the very beginning of Cox’s Hollywood trajectory.

“Welp. Now this trend can end. Courteney wins!” the top commenter wrote.

80s music star, Bangles singer Susannah Hoffs, called the video “perfection,” while it earned applause from Cox’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Speaking to Off Camera with Sam Jones in 2017, Cox explained how shocked she was to land a cameo in the Springsteen video, which was directed by Scarface director Brian De Palma.

She said her only on-camera experience at the time was “two days on a soap opera and a New York telephone ad”.

“I walked into this big casting room and all these dancers were there … And I was like, ‘I don’t think I’m in the right place because I can barely touch my toes,’” Cox said.

“I think that’s why I got it,” she later told The Howard Stern Show in 2022. “I think that’s what they wanted, a fan that just couldn’t believe it.”

This certainly isn’t the first time Cox has experienced a viral dancing moment.

Her Friends character Monica Geller and brother Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) performed their iconic ‘routine’ in season 6 of the show, which became one of the series’ most memorable scenes.

Cox later recreated for a hilarious Instagram video with UK singer Ed Sheeran in 2021.
