‘Complete loss’: Taylor Swift issues heartbreaking public statement

Taylor Swift has issued a heartbreaking public statement while on tour, telling fans she’s “completely in shock”.

Taylor Swift has issued a heartbreaking public statement about the mass stabbing at a UK children’s dance class themed around her music.

Posting to her Instagram stories, Swift, who is currently on tour in Europe, said she was “completely in shock” over the news of the stabbing that left three children dead.

Five more children and two adults have been left with critical wounds and another three children were hurt in the savage attack on a children’s dance class in Southport, near Liverpool in England.

A 17-year-old from a nearby village who was arrested shortly after the killings remains in custody.

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock,” Swift wrote in her statement.

“The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

The attack came as Swift had a three-day break in her touring schedule. Her most recent performance was at Munich’s Olympiastadion on July 28, and her next stop will be in Warsaw, Poland tomorrow night.

Her statement comes as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the site of the attack, laying flowers and thanking emergency workers for responding to the horrific scene.

“I came here to pay my respects to the victims and families who are going through raw pain and grief that most of us can’t imagine – I can’t imagine, as a dad myself,” he said.

One witness to the attack described the aftermath as the “worst thing I’ve seen in my life”.

“We all ran out and there’s young kids, all bleeding,” nearby business owner Colin Parry told the BBC, describing the scene as “mayhem”.

“It was the worst thing I’ve seen ever in my life,” he said.

“Why? Why would you do these things to these kids? It’s horrific.”
