Swiss Army Man might just be this year’s weirdest film

DANIEL Radcliffe plays a washed up, flatulent corpse in Swiss Army Man. Judging by the new trailer, it’s the strangest film you’ll see this year.

DANIEL Radcliffe’s new film looks like the strangest movie you’ll see this year.

The Harry Potter actor stars alongside Paul Dano in Swiss Army Man, about a crazed castaway who is preparing to kill himself after being stranded on an island — until Radcliffe comes along and changes his life.

The only problem is, the 26-year-old Brit plays a washed up, flatulent corpse.

The official red band trailer has just been released and it’s undoubtedly one of the most unusual trailers we’ve seen. Radcliffe’s unique ‘dead body’ character breaks wind (a lot), maintains an erection, offers relationship advice to his new mate, the pair even share a kiss at one point.

The bizarre scenes in Swiss Army Man led some of the audience to walk out of the film when it premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Even so, the survivalist tale, helmed by co-directors and screenwriters Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, was one of the most-talked about films at the festival.

Check out the just-dropped trailer below.

In a Q&A with the Sundance audience, Radcliffe explained: “The chance to play a dead guy in this context was too much fun to pass up.”

Scheinert said the directors were inspired to make the film by “a fart joke”.

The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the movie stated: “It’s entirely to the directors and the two lead actors’ credit that what sounds like a bunch of overextended body humour gags of the most juvenile variety evolve, by sheer repetitious attrition, into something bizarrely poetic and strangely touching.”

Swiss Army Man is set for US release on July 1, with the worldwide release date yet to be announced.
