SHE’S 43 years old, she’s pregnant and she’s not sure who the father is.

That’s the premise of Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third film in the series which is due out in May next year.

Fans might recall that Bridget (played by Renée Zellweger) accepted Mark Darcy’s (played by Colin Firth) proposal in 2004’s The Edge of Reason, but apparently Bridget is still very much single in the upcoming film.

Mark hasn’t given up though and is determined as ever to seal the deal with Bridget, but he has some stiff competition, and no, it’s not Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant).

The new love interest is former Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey who plays a billionaire called Mark Qwant.

“As an actress, it feels like stepping back with an old friend,” said Zellweger to Entertainment Weekly.

“I love this character, I like that she tells stories about what it’s like to be a woman and these really relatable situations at certain times in life. It’s so right to tell a story about Bridget in this stage of her life.”
