Pop sensation Ariana Grande, musical theatre legend Cynthia Erivo, and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey have walked the yellow brick carpet for the international premiere of Wicked.
Fans who had been waiting for hours at Sydney’s State Theatre were not disappointed on Sunday afternoon when the international stars arrived to attend the hotly-anticipated event.
Ariana Grande was appropriately dazzling in a glittering pink ballgown accessorised with a diamond butterfly necklace.
The pop superstar portrays the bubbly and popular witch Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical written by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman.
The musical was itself a reimagining of The Wizard of OZ from the perspective of the Wicked Witch of the West, who is reintroduced as Elphaba.
The character will be played by musical theatre Cynthia Erivo, who looked gorgeous on the gold carpet in a structured black strapless gown and crystal choker with matching earrings.
Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero in the film, cut a dashing figure in a yellow silk shirt and a white suit on the carpet.
Meanwhile Hollywood favourite Jeff Goldblum embodied the spirit of his character, the Wizard, with a satin green waistcoat and green pants.
Also in attendance were Grande’s boyfriend, musical theatre star Ethan Slater, and local celebrities such as singer Delta Goodrem.
The star-studded cast for the film include other notable names such as Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.
The Australian premiere will kick off a run of international premieres around the world.
The Wicked film will open in theatres on November 21.
