Lucia Hawley is embarking on a new chapter in her creative career by relocating to London, where she will be closer to her famous aunt and cousins.

Lucia Hawley is embarking on a new chapter in her creative career by relocating to London, where she will be closer to her famous aunt and cousins.

Nicole Kidman’s 26-year-old niece, an entertainment journalist and former red carpet host, is moving to the other side of the world next month, to try land a job in the media.

Hawley, who has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney which she majored in Socio-Legal studies, is preparing to jet off to London alongside her long term partner Henry Poole.

And while Hawley admits getting a gig as an actress might be a little bit easier than getting a job in the media, she has her heart set on writing and TV presenting.

“I wish I had that talent,” she laughed. “I feel like that would have made things really great if I was an amazing actress, but unfortunately I have chosen a much less lower paying profession.”

“I am chasing the artistic pursuit of writing. I have been keeping a journal since I was 10-years-old. I think it’s pretty competitive in London in the media space, but I’m going for the experience. So hopefully I’ll land a job in media over there either writing or in broadcast.

“I’ve started like cold emailing editors and a few of them have actually responded which is awesome.”

Her decision to move overseas follows significant personal changes, including the passing of her grandmother, Janelle Kidman, and her departure from television presenting.

The move will result in her being closer to her aunt, Kidman, and Kidman’s two daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
“London’s always had that pull for me, both professionally and personally,” she said.

“I’m excited to dive into new work, and being a little closer to my aunty and cousins is a real comfort.”

The move comes after Hawley made her way to Nashville in April, where she spent time with Kidman and her cousins.

“My grandma passed away last September and she was kind of like the anchor or like the rock of our family,” she said.

“Since grandma been gone, we’ve had the ability... because we had to stay in Sydney a lot of the time when she was alive because she couldn’t travel so it’s been nice to go over to Nashville and visit family. We have a very strong bond.”

Hawley will be front row and centre this week at Australia Fashion Week, where she will be Serving as a roving reporter for presenting partner Shark Beauty capturing vox pop content, with Shark Beauty guests, designers, and backstage stylists.

“I think this year will be especially pretty special after having a bit of a revamp,” she said.

“We have some amazing Aussie talent here, it will be nice to shine the spotlight on our talent.
