John Farnham makes ‘full recovery’ from chest infection

John Farnham’s family has released an updated statement on the singer’s health following surgery to remove mouth cancer last year.

John Farnham has made a “full recovery” from a chest infection that left him hospitalised.

In a statement released on Monday night, the singer’s family expressed relief.

“We’re pleased to say that John made a full recovery from a recent chest infection in late March which required hospitalisation,” Farnham’s wife Jill and sons Rob and James said.

“He is now comfortable and continues to receive on going treatment and rehabilitation care.

“The family would like to re-iterate their appreciation and deepest respect for all the medical staff that have attended to John over the past eight months and the many thousands of kind messages that (have) been received from across Australia and the world.”

The statement was issued by Gaynor Wheatley (TalentWorks) and David Wilson (Watercooler Talent) on behalf of the Farnham family.

Farnham, 73, was taken to hospital with a chest infection in late March, seven months after undergoing 12-hour surgery to remove a cancerous growth in his mouth.

The health update was issued on the eve of the premiere of Farnham’s new authorised documentary. John Farnham: Finding The Voice tells the story of the performer’s rise to stardom and the struggles he faced along the way with depression and poverty.

Written and directed by Poppy Stockell, the powerful biopic follows Farnham’s personal and public battles to become the nation’s most beloved musical artist.

The trailer also features teasers of interviews from Farnham’s famous friends, including Richard Marx, Jimmy Barnes, Robbie Williams and the late Olivia Newton-John.
