Hugh Jackman has been spotted enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon in the Royal Box with British actress Kate Beckinsale.
The Australian actor, who is in London promoting Marvel’s upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, was photographed at the women’s singles final on Saturday, where he appeared friendly with the Pearl Harbor star as they witnessed the action on day 13 of the tournament.
Jackman, 55, and Beckinsale, 50, could be seen sharing a hug as they arrived at Centre Court at the All England Club, watching on as Czech player Barbora Krejcikova beat Italy’s Jasmine Paolini to take home the title.
The high-profile duo have known each other for years, starring in the 2004 film Van Helsing.
Jackman announced his split from his wife of 27 years Deborra-lee Furness in September. Beckinsale, for her part, is thought to be currently single after her marriage to US director Len Ryan Wiseman ended in 2015.
In the absence of British royal family members at Saturday’s final, Jackman and Beckinsale were joined by a host of well-known names, including former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova, Oscar-winning director Sir Sam Mendes and UK singer Ellie Goulding.
Later, fans were treated to a rare appearance from Catherine, Princess of Wales, at Sunday’s final.
Kate, alongside her daughter Princess Charlotte of Wales, 9, received a standing ovation as she arrived for the men’s singles final, in what marked her second public appearance since her cancer diagnosis was announced in March.
The Princess has been a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for the past eight years, also presented the trophy to men’s singles winner, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who beat seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
Prince William did not join his wife and daughter, instead, attending the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain in Berlin.
Kate is gradually returning to royal duties after retreating from the public eye since Christmas Day.
The mother-of-three attended her first official engagement at Trooping the Colour in June, releasing a statement ahead of the outing saying she was making “good progress” amid her ongoing treatment.
“As anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said.
“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
