The masterpieces of the renaissance will be displayed on the Gold Coast without leaving Europe. The Italian Renaissance Alive exhibition will open at the Home of the Arts in March as the new headline event at the Bundall complex.
The interactive display will feature the works of famed historic artists, including Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli and Caravaggio will be beamed onto the walls of HOTA’S 1000sq m exhibition space, with organisers promising a mixture of light, colour, sound and smell to transport audiences to the Sistine Chapel.
Susi Muddiman, HOTA’s visual arts director, said the art would be accompanied by Italian opera, including classics by Puccini and Verdi.
“Italian Renaissance Alive is unlike anything we have presented here at HOTA Gallery (because) the awe-inspiring exhibition will take guests through a traverse of the Renaissance period in Italy, exploring and celebrating the rich cultural and artistic influences that have inspired some of the world’s most iconic masterpieces,” she said.
“This immersive, multi-sensory experience will be sure to delight Gold Coasters and offer a unique opportunity to interact and engage with the art as they marvel at the beauty and brilliance of the Italian masters in a contemporary setting at HOTA Gallery.”
Other works which will be featured are the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and the Birth of Venus.
The exhibit, which will run from March 30 to August 4, will replaced Sneakers Unboxed which has run over the summer season.
It will run 10am-3pm Monday-Sunday, with tickets from $23.
