Harry Potter-themed Drag Queen Trivia the latest event at Frida Sol in Broadbeach

From a Harry Potter-themed Drag Trivia night, to a display of some of the most impressive cars on the Gold Coast, check out our list of top five fun events taking place this weekend.

IF you’re a Harry Potter nerd who’s looking to put their knowledge to the test, look no further than Frida Sol in Broadbeach.

The restaurant is on Sunday hosting its latest Drag Trivia night and bringing out all the toughest questions on the Boy Who Lived.

And resident drag queen Mya Crafone, also known as Brandon Lord, said he isn’t afraid to drag his trivia teams over the coals.

“When I read back the answers to mark them there are some I look at and go, ‘Really? Interesting’,” he said.

“Nine times out of 10 ... if I got a team that’s doing horrendously I will call them out in front of everyone.

“Everyone has a good sort of laugh, I let them know prior to starting that it’s all harmless fun and no one takes it too seriously.”

Drag events are becoming all the more popular on the Gold Coast, with Frida Sol’s sister restaurant Bonita Bonita frequently hosting Drag Queen Bingo.

“These sorts of events are something fun and different for the majority of the population who’ve never had a chance to experience drag queen events before,” Mr Lord said.

“Because previously we’ve been relegated to nightclubs, the middle of the night, doing something on a Sunday afternoon gives them a chance to do something they haven’t previously.”
