Hamish Blake reveals surprising amount he was paid to do Celebrity Gogglebox

There were reports Hamish Blake was paid a whopping $500,000 to feature in the recent Celebrity Gogglebox special, but the comic has now revealed the truth.

When it was announced Hamish Blake and his wife Zoe Foster Blake would be starring on the one-off Celebrity Gogglebox special, rumours quickly swirled about how much the power couple were getting paid.

The 40-year-old LEGO Masters host featured on the Foxtel* reality special which aired last month, alongside other Aussie celebs including Julia Morris and the Irwin family.

Just before the show went to air, it was reported the Blakes received an eye-watering $500,000 to star in just one 45-minute episode, but speaking on Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Hamish put that rumour to rest.

“That [report] blew me away,” Hamish said. “[We were paid] $5000. Five, zero, zero zero.

“Everyone gets the same thing. There was never any discussion of money.”

Hamish and Zoe appeared on the one-off Celebrity Gogglebox special.

He added: “The same executive producer that makes LEGO Masters is in charge of Gogglebox as well, good mate, and that’s why we did it.

“Literally, over lunch one day he goes, ‘Hey we’re doing a celebrity version of Gogglebox,’ and I was like, ‘Mate we’ll do that, that sounds like great fun.’”

The parents-of two participated because they were simply “fans of the show”.

“And then that [report] came out and I was like, no one would believe it … No one cares anyway,” he said.

“Everyone gets the same; I didn’t even think about the money.”

Hamish revealed everyone was paid $5000 for Celebrity Gogglebox.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jackie O also revealed she and Sophie Monk were offered a spot on the show, but turned it down.

“That’s what we got offered [too],” the radio host said.
