THE next big movie to film on the Gold Coast, Dora The Explorer, has found its star.
US actress Isabela Moner, best known for her role alongside Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Hopkins in Transformers: The Last Knight, will play a teenage version of the beloved children’s character Dora in the live-action Dora the Explorer movie.
Pre-production on the film began in February, with cameras set to roll on the film’s Gold Coast set on August 6.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Moner, who turns 17 in July, is also a voice actress, singer, songwriter, dancer and ukulele player.
The actress has been pegged as one to watch since she was named Rising Star of the Year at the 2017 CinemaCon Awards.
The Coast shoot isn’t the first Dora project she’s worked on — she voiced the character Kate in an animated Dora spin-off called Dora and Friends: Into the City! in 2014.

Based on the animated series of the same name, the Paramount film is being directed by James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted) and produced in association with Nickelodeon.
The new live action film will follow Dora as she heads off on an adventure with her cousin Diego and best friend Boots the monkey.
Dora The Explorer is slated for release in the US in August 2019.
