Thousands of Gold Coast theme parks staff are primed to blow away patrons again with the attractions weeks from reopening.
Stunt performers, animal carers and more are among a majority of 5000 staff on the cusp of returning like Sea World Thunderlake Stunt Show’s Simon Mallory who says performers Australia wide have been staying in contact and are ready to go.
“Lots of the crew are from interstate so everyone is in different areas. Luckily, they live on lakes and rivers, so they can keep their skiing skills up. They’re all fit, healthy and because they’re country folk haven’t been in the hot spots so will be right to come back into the state.”
Mr Mallory has been on $1500-a-fortnight JobKeeper which he said helped staff stay positive in recent months.
Australian Outback Spectacular equine manager and dog trainer Heidi Mackay has worked through despite the March 23 shut down but said the animals she cares for have been waiting for everything to return to normal.
“My staff have a special bond with the animals, and the animals have been missing them and can’t wait to see each other again,” she said.
