MIRANDA Otto won’t let a pandemic stop her from finally getting to the Gold Coast this weekend to meet her fans.

The Australian actor, best known for her role as Éowyn in the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy, headlines the 2021 Supanova pop culture expo, the first in-person event of its kind to be held since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Otto, who will appear alongside David Wenham, had been scheduled to appear at the 2020 event before pandemic travel restrictions forced her cancellation.

The event went ahead without her but was the last of its kind to be held before the beginning of lockdowns.

“I have never actually done a convention in Australia before so I am really looking forward to it,” she said.

“Events like this are always so joyful. There’s a lot of love in the room, particularly for artists and books and the fans love to dress up and chat about it so it always gives me a smile.”
