DARYL Braithwaite will bring a different kind of Horse power to the Gold Coast 600 this year when he joins Delta Goodrem for a special outdoor show.
The Aussie vocal greats will open the first of two Broadwater Sounds race weekend concerts at Broadwater Parklands on October 20.
Braithwaite and Goodrem were among the stars who joined forces to perform at Olivia Newton John’s gala ball in Melbourne on the weekend to help raise funds for cancer research.
The former Sherbert frontman said he and Newton-John “held hands ... and were boyfriend and girlfriend for a week” during their time at primary school.
Braithwaite is back in the spotlight after undergoing surgery last December to have a tumour removed from his stomach.
He’ll play the Gold Coast 600 and the Falls Festival in January before he heads to Europe for a few shows in 2018 to mark the 30th anniversary of his hit album, Edge, and singles As The Days Go By, One Summer, and All I Do.
Fans can look forward to hearing Braithwaite’s Aussie classic The Horses, an unofficial anthem frequently played at major sporting events such as the Cox Plate at Mooney Valley racecourse, where thousands of racegoers sing along to the famous tune.
The former frontman of iconic pop group Sherbet, Braithwaite is enjoying a resurgence in popularity, with a new generation of music fans discovering his catalogue of hits.
Chart-topping Aussie hip hop group Hilltop Hoods and Violent Soho will be joined by Montaigne and Dean Lewis for night two of Broadwater Sounds on Saturday, October 21.
Tickets to Broadwater Sounds are on sale via Ticketek. Entry to both concerts is included in any same-day Supercars ticket.
Supercars has also added more DJs to the mix for its on-track party precinct, Club 600.
Hometown hit maker Brooke Evers will return to Macintosh Island on race weekend to lead the party at full-throttle day club Club 600.
Now based in Los Angeles, Evers has amassed almost one million followers on social media.
She’ll be joined at Club 600 by fellow Gold Coast acts The Twins, Jake Carmody and Kaitlyn.
A ticket to the Vodafone Gold Coast 600 grants partygoers complimentary VIP access to Club 600.
Race-goers aged 18+ won’t miss a second of the Supercar action with the day club featuring
several bars and non-stop attractions, just behind pit lane on Macintosh Island.
The GC600 runs on the streets of the Gold Coast from October 20-22.
