Family Ties star Justine Bateman slams Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s ‘Victim Olympics campaign’

Family Ties star Justine Bateman has been sufficiently irritated by the Duchess of Sussex to work up a blog post explaining ‘the problem with Meghan Markle’.

‘Not relatable to ordinary people’: Meghan’s Netflix show continues to receive backlash

Actress Justine Bateman has blasted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for acting like “victims” since quitting royal life in 2020 and moving to the US.

The Family Ties and Desperate Housewives alum, 59, didn’t mince words as she slammed the Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, saying it received disappointing viewership because people don’t want to “watch someone playact at something they didn’t earn.”

In a blog post titled, “The Problem With Meghan Markle: It’s Not What She’s Doing, It’s the Victim Olympics Road She Took to Get There,” Bateman hit out at the Suits alum, 43, following the release of her several business ventures, which, in addition to her Netflix show, include her lifestyle brand As Ever and her new podcast Confessions of a Female Founder.

Bateman, who previously called the Sussexes “ambulance chasers” and “disaster tourists” after their visit to an evacuation centre following the Los Angeles wildfires in January, said the public is simply tired of them and their “victim Olympics.”

“The problem with Meghan Markle (and her husband, Harry) is that every opportunity they have explored or exploited over the past few years has been due to their very aggressive Victim Olympics campaign,” Bateman wrote in her Race Track Substack blog.

“The difference between doing that two years ago and doing it now is immense. It’s 2025, and no one wants to see victims anymore.”

“No one wants to watch someone playact at something they didn’t earn,” she said, adding that she has even created the couple’s own gold medal.

‘Ambulance chasers’: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle facing criticism over LA visit

The sister of Hollywood star Jason Bateman added that while she doesn’t think “anyone wishes [Markle] ill” and that she has the right to release a Netflix show or “start a podcast or two,” people also have the right not to “go along with another’s ‘narrative’ anymore.”

In January, Justine slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for what she believed to be an insensitive “photo op” after they visited an evacuation centre for the victims of the Eaton fire in Pasadena, California.

“Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers,” she wrote at the time. “What a repulsive ‘photo op’ they achieved.”

“They are ‘touring the damage’?” she asked in her repost of news footage showing the couple in Pasadena, a stone’s throw from Altadena, one of the hardest hit communities by the fires. “Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists.”
