THE Gold Coast has missed out seeing Elton John perform live in the city during his last ever tour.
The famous singer announced dozens of shows across the country recently and will travel to capital cities including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
He will also make stops at smaller, regional centres, such as the Yarra Valley, Woodend, Bathurst, Coffs Harbour, the Sunshine Coast and Townsville.

However, despite all the recent infrastructure courtesy of the Commonwealth Games, he will not come to the Gold Coast.
Mayor Tom Tate told the Bulletin it was “disappointing to hear Elton John’s Yellow Brick Road won’t be leading to the Gold Coast.
“The Gold Coast knows how to put on a show and we would have loved to be part of his final curtain call.”
QUEEN AND ADAM LAMBERT TO PLAY ON COAST
A Chugg Entertainment promoter representative told the Bulletin Sir Elton had visited the area previously in 2007 and the decision was made to give another regional city the opportunity.
“The Gold Coast is without doubt a fantastic city, providing much of the infrastructure needed to deliver a show of this scale,” she said.
“Sir Elton played a show in the region in 2007, so on this occasion, and due to routing considerations, the decision was made to give another city this fantastic opportunity.
“In putting the tour run together, we had many regional cities vying for a show, but unfortunately it just isn’t possible to accommodate everyone.

“We won’t be looking to add any new markets to Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Australian tour. However, according to our postcode reports, a large percentage of attendees for the 5 sold out QLD shows (three Brisbane and two Sirromet Winery) will be travelling from the Gold Coast.
“And Coffs Harbour and the Sunshine Coast aren’t far away, so Gold Coast audiences have two great new locations to choose from.”
Sir Elton will tour Australia and New Zealand between November 2019 and March 2020.
While he won’t visit the city, Queen have added the Gold Coast to their list of shows.
