Doja Cat stuns fans with iconic look ahead of Sydney show

The singer was spotted stepping out of her Sydney hotel sporting an unusual accessory on her head - and a less than cheerful expression.

Huge pop star touches down in Sydney

Doja Cat swept into Sydney earlier this week all smiles and happy to meet waiting fans, but a recent spotting of the hit maker tells a slightly different story.

The usually glam Paint The Town Red singer, 30, looked almost unrecognisable as she stepped out of her hotel sporting a red shower cap and a far less cheerful expression.

Pairing her unusual head accessory with a white cropped T-shirt and faded grey pants, the star was on her way to one of her two shows performed at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena for her tour Down Under.

Doja - whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini - touched town in Sydney on Monday after kicking off her tour in Perth.

She was spotted exiting her private jet on the airport tarmac and scanning the awaiting crowd before she drove off in a private black van.

She later emerged outside her hotel, where she happily greeted a crowd of eager fans begging for photos and autographs - albeit a little brief with their exchanges.

Her time in Australia has been a perfect opportunity to silence critics after she was slammed by Melbourne fans last month for making them wait more than three hours for a brief 15 minute performance at Melbourne’s Ms Collins nightclub on November 24th.

She reportedly performed just three songs to the sold out crowd before abruptly leaving the stage.

Luckily, this has not been the case for her bigger arena shows as part of her Ma Vie world tour.

Courier Mail described her Brisbane show as “electrifying” and likened it to seeing big name divas such as Madonna and Whitney Houston in concert.

A noticeable highlight was the moment the star performed a clever pivot during one of her hit songs.

“During Ain’t Sh*t, her ruthless critique on deadbeat men, she noticed the entire room of fans were – rightly and politely – skipping the N word, which features 10 times in the original track,” the publication wrote.

“Picking up on the awkward communal self-censorship, Doja raised an eyebrow and changed the word to “men” – now that’s improv.”

Despite being called out for her lack of costume changes by the New Zealand crowd, Doja has continued with her show the same way she started - with absolutely no F’s given about any negative reviews that may surface about her doings on or off the stage.
