Movie buffs will be spoiled for choice when a brand new cinema opens in Southport on Thursday.
Dendy Cinemas will form part of the $550m transformation of the old Southport hospital site into a new shopping centre called Queen Street Village.
The movie complex will boast 11 fully licensed cinemas screening the latest blockbusters, family flicks, international film and arthouse productions, as well as a candy bar and foyer.
Tom Cruise’s highly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick leads the list of 14 movies to screen when the cinema opens tomorrow.

It joins films such as Operation Mincemeat, How to Please a Woman, The Bob’s Burgers Movie and horror flick Hatching.
Dendy is the first offering to open as part of stage one of the shopping centre - which was expected to be finished by late May or early June, subject to weather.
Stage one includes new retail shops, health services, IGA supermarket, Asian grocery store, gym, food court, childcare, cultural and social hubs.
Once complete, the full integrated development will include new retail, dining, entertainment, residential, childcare, commercial, hotel, health and aged-care facilities.
The Bulletin understands restaurants and food outlets, a children’s playground, the IGA, chemist and health and beauty services will open at the site soon.
The shopping centre connects to the Nerang Street light rail station station and will also offer
car parking accessed from Nerang and Queen Streets.
Currently, the only access open is Nerang St.
