Chris Lilley shows off his ‘dad bod’ during sunbaking session on Gold Coast beach

Comedy king Chris Lilley took some time off from filming his new Netflix comedy TV series to hit the beach and make the most of picture-perfect weather on the Gold Coast on the weekend.

THE brains behind one of Netflix’s most anticipated local TV tales has hit the beach — with his phone and hat — to enjoy another day in paradise as he nears the end of his Gold Coast shoot.

CHRISChris Lilley, who has spent the past few months filming his new 10-part comedy series for the streaming service in and around the Coast, showed off his ‘dad bod’ as he hit the beach at Mermaid to soak up some sun during Saturday’s postcard-perfect conditions.

CHRIS LILLEY SERIES FILMS AT BOND UNIVERSITY

Lilley has been staying a short walk down the street from ‘millionaires’ row’ — Hedges Ave — while the as-yet-untitled production films on location everywhere from the Tweed to Broadbeach, Bond University and most recently, Mudgeeraba.

While fans online have their fingers crossed Lilley’s school music teacher character Mr G makes an appearance in his latest project, an insider said the series follows the fortunes of a family whose members all have rather large derrières.

Co-produced for Netflix by Lilley and Laura Waters, the mystery comedy is one of several projects in production on the Coast.

Red Dune Productions’ war drama Danger Close filmed some big set sequences west of Nerang last week while Hoodlum’s series for Netflix Tidelands, starring Elsa Pataky, has been out on location shoots in and around Brisbane and the Coast.

Paramount Pictures’ Dora the Explorer movie is in pre-production mode at Village Roadshow Studios before cameras begin rolling in August.

Two big-ticket projects filmed on the Coast last year are also in post-production — Warner Bros’ superhero movie Aquaman and Mako Mermaids’ maker Jonathan Shiff Productions’ highly anticipated new children’s TV series, The Bureau of Magical Things.
