Best and worst dressed at the BRIT Awards
LEAVE it to pop stars to bring the OTT fashion — from Rita Ora’s giant feathered ball gown to one star’s hilarious unintentional Bridesmaids tribute.
Red Carpet
Don't miss out on the headlines from Red Carpet. Followed categories will be added to My News.
THE British music scene’s brightest stars are out in force today for the 2018 BRIT Awards, and those parading on the red carpet brought some daring fashion hits — and a few misses.
New Rules singer Dua Lipa was an early winner on the night, taking home the award for Best British Female. And she rocked the red carpet in a giant froufrou frock she sarcastically described as “subtle”:
One of Dua’s red carpet poses — taking a knee on the red carpet, and letting her voluminous dress spill out around her — seemed like an (intentional?) tribute to 2011 comedy Bridesmaids’ most infamous scene:

Seeing Dua Lipa posing in her Brits red carpet dress and all I can think of is THAT Bridesmaids scene... #BRITs2018 #BRITs pic.twitter.com/46RJLAVgT7

“You’re really doin’ it, Dua? You’re s**ttin’ on the BRIT Awards red carpet ...”
You can always count on pop stars to bring the OTT fashion — Rita Ora, who memorably rocked a bathrobe on the red carpet at the MTV EMAs last year, brought the glamour in a white feathered frock that rivalled Dua’s for drama:
And, like Dua, Rita needed her own dress helper on hand:
British super-couple Cheryl Cole and ex-1D member Liam Payne put recent rumours of a split behind them with this united front:
American band Haim looked suitably Pre-Raphaelite, complete with blossomed head wreaths:
Model Hailey Baldwin proved that matching your lipstick to your dress can really pay off:
Our Kylie showed you can dress for the London cold and still look super-glam in this Little Red Riding Hood ensemble:
Actress Noomi Rapace’s ensemble was ... a lot:
Dancefloor diva Jess Glynne teamed a nude suit with some sort of an orthopaedic platform:
Ex-Fifth Harmony black sheep gone solo, Camila Cabello was ethereal in baby blue:
Ed Sheeran ... just looked like a guy in a suit:
Little Mix member Jesy Nelson somehow made a high-waisted leather avocado jumpsuit work:
Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked like she’d come straight from a Robert Palmer video shoot:
Oh, and those white roses everyone’s carrying? They’re a symbolic gesture in support of the Time’s Up and Me Too movements, much like the acting world’s gesture of wearing black.
Many female stars carried roses on the red carpet — but fewer men, something that nominee Paloma Faith wasn’t happy about.
“The only thing I’m upset about tonight is not more men carrying white roses. I think they should have,” she told BBC News, before pinning a rose to a member of rock group Royal Blood.
