Princess Catherine and Prince William mark Black History Month during visit to Cardiff

Princess Catherine has paid a sweet tribute to a soccer legend while Prince William showed his risque side during an emotional visit.

Princess Catherine has paid her own sweet tribute to a soccer legend as she dazzled royal fans on a joint visit to Cardiff with husband Prince William.

The Princess of Wales, looking elegant in a navy pinstripe pant suit, put her hands in a heart-shape, a gesture that Welsh soccer star Gareth Bale used to perform after scoring a goal when he played for Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid.

The cute gesture showed off Catherine’s jaw-dropping sapphire and diamond engagement ring, which famously belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

The royal pair visited Fitzalan High School in the Welsh capital as well as the Grange Pavilion, where they met with members of the Windrush Generation to celebrate the start of Black History Month.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of HMS Windrush docking in Tilbury, Essex, carrying passengers to the UK from the Caribbean.

Prince William and Princess Catherine were greeted by cheering schoolchildren who gave them high fives and fist bumps before they chatted with members from the Afro-Caribbean and African communities in Cardiff.

The couple received a huge welcome from their host, Professor Uzo Iwobi, founder of the African Community Centre Wales and Race Council Cymru.

Later, when the guests posed for a group photograph, the royal couple moved to a back row and ushered the Windrush veterans forward.

The guests erupted in laugher when Prince William joked: “Who’s pinching my bottom?”

Prince William had promised Profesor Iwobi he would travel to Cardiff and meet the elders when he made her a CBE earlier this year for services to race equality and championing diversity and cohesion, the BBC reports.

Professor Iwobi received a hug from Professor William for her efforts in organising the day.

She said: “Today he saw me and said ‘I promised you, and I keep my word.’

“It was just so heart-meltingly beautiful for our elders to hold the hand of the future King.”

The famously sporty royal couple showed off their table tennis skills when they joined members of the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum for a game of table tennis.

Showing her commitment to sustainable fashion, Princess Catherine wore the same outfit as as last week when she welcomed Apple CEO Tim Cook to Windsor Castle.

The radiant Princess wore her brunette locks in loose curls hanging down her shoulders.

Students from Fitzalan High School also got to meet the royal couple and presented Prince William with a gift bag containing baked treats.

“I love Welsh cakes. They always go down very well.”

“They’re not very good for our teeth though.”
