Prince Harry’s friend describes him as ‘an angry boy’ in brutal life update

One of the few British friends Harry is still in touch with has claimed he’s “angry” that things “haven’t turned out how he wanted”.

Prince Harry is secretly frustrated by aspects of his life in California and is having trouble moving on from the past, according to a new report.

Speaking to the UK Times, a friend of the Duke of Sussex’s claimed they were one of a few who get “the odd WhatsApp from him”, and that he comes across as “angry”.

“He’s an angry boy. Things haven’t turned out how he wanted,” the insider claimed.

“I think he misses being over here [in Britain] desperately and wants to be admired more. Anyone who knows him feels he’d rather be top of the pops here with everyone loving him, as they do with William and Kate.”

Another source the publication claimed had known Harry since his teenage years added that he was missing the English lifestyle, more than four years after he moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle.

“He has ended up isolated from his family and most of his old mates, in an environment where your friendships are not like the ones you forged as a young man,” the insider said.

“He used to love a night out in the pub and hanging out in the country with friends.”

A former adviser to Harry also told the Times that “all [Harry] does” is “spend time looking back”.

“If only he could wrench his neck around and look forwards,” the source added.

Earlier this year, royal author Tom Quinn shared a similar insight into Harry’s new life, telling The Mirror the duke felt nostalgic about some elements of his British days.

“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK,” he said.

“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles.”

Quinn added that Harry is still keen to find a permanent UK home after he was evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.

“He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan,” he said.

“Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.”

However, in June, royal correspondent Katie Nicholl shared a very different perspective on Harry’s current state, claiming a source who had recently spent time with the Sussexes describing him as “really happy”.

“Harry’s living a wonderful life and a life he’s always wanted to live. And I thought that’s really wonderful to hear – I’m really pleased to hear that,” she told the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast.

It comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrapped up their four-day tour of Colombia, which was arranged following a personal invitation from the country’s Vice-President, Francia Márquez.

As it got underway, Ms Márquez told journalists that she’d been inspired to reach out to the Sussexes after watching their controversial Netflix-docu-series, Harry & Meghan, last year.

“I learned their story through Netflix and I was moved by it. Meghan is a woman who deserves to come to the country and tell her story,” Ms Márquez told journalists.

“ … We have been working for a year for this visit.”

The visit comes as part of efforts by Harry and Meghan’s philanthropic division, Archewell Foundation, to improve the social media landscape and better protect young people from online dangers.

During their time there, the couple visited local organisations, hosted panels, participated in an Invictus Games training session and experienced Colombian culture while travelling across three cities: Bogotá, Cali and Cartegna.
