Prince Harry is set to skip King Charles’ coronation concert following the crowning so he can fly back home to Meghan Markle and his kids.
The Duke of Sussex has told his father he will not stay for the weekend of celebrations following the historic ceremony on May 6.
Instead of attending the May 7 gig at Windsor Castle, Prince Harry will head back home to be with his family in California to celebrate his son Archie’s fourth birthday, sources told The Mirror.
Organisers for the extravagant event, which will feature All Night Long singer Lionel Richie, Take That and Katy Perry, will no longer need to reserve a seat for Prince Harry.
It comes as the Duke confirmed last week he would attend his father’s coronation, weeks after receiving the invite.
Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson will be a “VIP attendee” at the concert to be attended by 20,000 other ticketholders after missing out on an invitation to the coronation ceremony.
The 63-year-old will join her ex-husband Prince Andrew and other royals for the event which are set to include her daughters Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 33.
There will also be a drone show, illuminations of UK landmarks, and a performance from the Coronation Choir.
The full guest list has not yet been released.
A royal insider said Fergie would “never have expected an invitation to the Coronation”.
“But she is delighted to be joining the wider family for the Coronation Concert,” the source told The Mirror.
“She cherishes those more relaxed times with the family and, contrary to some reports, is fully accepting of the situation.
“She did, of course, join the family for the Sandringham Christmas celebrations, so it’s clear there is no ill will in either direction. Quite the contrary.”
