Prince Harry ‘bored’ by life in Los Angeles with Meghan Markle, ‘aren’t seen as true A-listers’

Prince Harry is not finding life in LA with Meghan Markle all he hoped it would be, amid claims the Sussexes are not seen as true A-listers in their celeb-filled neighbourhood.

Prince Harry is reportedly “bored” of life in Los Angeles because he “doesn’t have anything to do”, according to a royal author.

The 40-year-old royal moved to California in 2020 with wife Meghan Markle after stepping down from official royal duties – a role he was “trained in since childhood”, according to Tom Quinn.

Prince Harry and Meghan now live in a $24-million-dollar mansion in the celebrity-filled enclave of Montecito, with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

Mr Quinn – author of the new book Yes Ma’am, The Secret Life of Royal Servants – claims that former friends in the UK have told him that Prince Harry, who spent many years of his life living at Kensington Palace, “is not finding life in LA all he hoped it would be”.

“He just doesn’t have anything to do: from childhood he has been trained to be a royal, attending charitable events and meeting the public and he has thrown all that away,” Mr Quinn said.

“Friends say he’s made a decent stab at helping around the Montecito mansion, walking the dog and looking after the children.

“But the truth is he is bored. He can’t leave the mansion without a security detail and the couple’s neighbours – many of whom are far more famous than the royal couple – take little notice when they spot Harry out and about.”

Prince Harry reportedly does not venture out to the neighbourhood shops but on occasion has been spotted with his security detail when he’s riding his bike, taking a walk, or heading out for lunch.

Tom claimed that the Sussexes “hate that they aren’t seen as true A-listers” in the area, which is home to high-wattage Hollywood stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston.

The Sun previously spoke to a local in the area who said: “We leave Harry and Meghan be.

“There are loads of famous people around here so no one bats an eyelid about two more rich people.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex splashed out on their nine-bedroom mansion after leaving the UK, and it comes with 16 bathrooms and 5.4 acres of land.

Fit for royalty, it features a library, office, spa, gym, game room, wine cellar and five-car garage, it’s believed.

The estate also boasts sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool.

There is even a chicken coop with “Archie’s Chick Inn”, which has rescue hens.

Mr Quinn added: “For Harry, Montecito is escape from all the things he hated about his old life but it’s also the loss of the things he loved.

“The biggest sorrow for Harry living in the States is not seeing his old Eton and army pals – much of this is down to the fact that they really dislike woke tree huggers and, rightly or wrongly, that’s what they feel Harry has become.”

Mr Quinn claimed that while the Duke of Sussex is married to Meghan, the chances of him returning to the UK “are nil”.

He continued: “Distance and time have not softened his view of how he and Meghan were treated, and he has begun to realise it’s much easier for an ex-royal to keep a low profile in the US than in England.

“Harry’s relationship with his brother and father has not improved at all – in many ways it has got worse as attitudes have hardened.

“Both sides still feel the other side should apologise; both sides are convinced they are in the right.”

This comes as Meghan has announced that she will soon be launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which was previously going to be called American Riviera Orchard.

In her new Instagram post, she said: “Some of you may have heard whispers about what I’ve been creating. In two weeks, my series on @netflix launches — but there’s something else I’ve been working on.

“I’m thrilled to introduce you to As Ever — a brand that I created and have poured my heart into.

“‘As ever’ means ‘as it’s always been’ or some even say ‘in the same way as always’.

“If you’ve followed along since my days of creating The Tig, you’ll know this couldn’t be truer for me.

“This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.

“I will keep sharing behind the scenes titbits with you here as we ramp up to launch, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on everything we’ve been creating. Sending lots of love …”

Meghan explained that the name was changed from American Riviera Orchard as it “limited” her to selling items manufactured only from the area.
