Netflix is unlikely to renew the Sussexes’ multimillion-dollar contract, believing “the lemon has been fully squeezed”.

Their tell-all six-parter Harry & Meghan was the most-watched subscription TV show of 2022, but there are no plans for a follow-up series.

Hot off the heels of the announcement that Meghan had lost her $33 million deal with Spotify after one podcast series in 27 months — with the couple branded “f*** grifters” by one executive.

The reported $150 million Netflix deal, believed to be paid in instalments, was first announced in 2020.

But bosses are said to now feel Meghan “lives in her own bubble” and does not seem to have “grasped the economic reality”.

“There is a less friendly attitude from some at the top. The feeling is that the lemon has been fully squeezed,” a source said.

“The big bucks Harry and Meghan signed on for do not exist today.”

The Sun on Sunday understands the Sussexes are prepared to see out their contractual obligations with Netflix.

Harry will feature in an already-filmed Invictus Games series, with screening planned later this year.

Another series Meghan had been planning for Netflix, an animated show which was given the working title of ‘Pearl’, was quietly dropped last year.

Meghan was creating the show through Archewell Productions, the company the Sussexes had set up to produce scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s programming.

Meanwhile, Meghan is said to be in talks with other firms after her Archetypes podcast was pulled “by mutual agreement” with Spotify executives.

Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation at Spotify, said in his own podcast on Friday: “The f***ing grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.

“I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
