Prince Harry sent an “olive branch” to his estranged brother Prince William and his wife Princess Kate while in the UK last week, according to an insider.
Harry spent two days in London where he sensationally alleged that he was stripped of his UK police protection in a bid to prevent he and his wife, Meghan, from leaving the country.
During his legal battle to win back taxpayer-funded UK security, the Duke of Sussex stayed at Coworth Park hotel, near Ascot, Berkshire, which is less than a 20 minute-drive away from Adelaide Cottage where the Prince and Princess of Wales reside.
While the 40-year-old duke did not meet up with the pair, close business friends of Harry claimed he stayed nearby to extend “an olive branch”, The Sun reported on Sunday.
A source told The Express: “His accommodation decision, which was relayed to Wills and Kate through security services, was seen as a potential olive branch to make peace after so many years estranged.”
“Harry really is keen to try to salvage some kind of relationship or even reopen dialogue,” they added.
“They have not had any full-length conversations or discussions since they had some time together around the Queen’s passing.”
Harry landed in London on Sunday, April 6, ahead of two-day court proceedings, before leaving for a surprise visit to Ukraine, where he was pictured meeting war victims on Thursday.
Prince Harry has been estranged from his family since he and wife Meghan Markle quit their royal duties and moved to the US in 2020.
Prince William and Harry have not been in direct communication since the release of Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare, in January 2023.
Their last reported interaction was during the funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, but conversations were said to be brief.
Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla appeared happy and relaxed as they attended a church service in Balmoral.
The couple wore matching tartan outfits for the occasion at Crathie Kirk in Scotland.
During the service the monarchs listened to a new score to mark their 20th wedding anniversary created by composer Professor Paul Mealor.
Titled ‘The Weather of My Being,’ the music encompassed three anniversary songs, with each designed to reflect a different aspect of enduring love.
Mealor has previously created music for royal events including Prince William and Princess Kate’s wedding, several of the monarch’s birthdays, and the King’s coronation.
