The Wales family could, finally, be heading to Australia.
More than a decade after their last tour here, Catherine, Princess of Wales, let slip on potential plans to visit with husband Prince William and their three children while attending a royal engagement in London for St Patrick’s Day.
Speaking to an Australian reservist during the annual festive parade at Westminster on Monday, the future Queen reportedly said she was eager to return with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
“She said she’d love to take the kids Down Under now that they’re a bit older,” Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers said on Today.
“She said Prince George still can’t believe he’s actually been to Australia and New Zealand, having visited with his mum and dad when he was just a baby.”

Plans have long been in the pipeline to lure Catherine and William back to Australia, with the couple last visiting in April 2014 for a 10-day tour with a then baby Prince George.
Headlines swirled in February 2020 the couple were, at long last, slated to visit, with the intention for the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to tour the impacted regions from the 2019-20 bushfires.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported at the time negotiations had been ramping up between the Morrison government and Kensington Palace for an imminent trip.
However, Covid-19 thwarted a possible tour after a pandemic was declared in early March.

Aussie royalists would no doubt welcome the Wales’ with a rock star reception, with the latest Ipsos poll revealing the Princess of Wales was the most popular British royal family member, with 66 per cent of Britons surveyed holding a favourable opinion of her. Prince William trailed closely behind with a 65 per cent popularity rating.
William first came to Australia in 1983 with his parents, King Charles and the late Princess Diana when he was just nine months old. He was the first royal baby to go on an official overseas visit with his parents.
More recently, King Charles and Queen Camilla embarked on a rapid three-day tour of Australia in October last year.
Prior to that, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were then newlyweds and at the peak of their likability, visited Australia in October 2018.
Their arrival in Sydney came just hours after the palace announced the Sussexes were expecting their first child, with Prince Archie later born in May 2019.
