It’s the question Megan Gale is constantly being asked. Now, the Australian model finally explains why she and fiance Shaun Hampson haven’t set a date for their wedding.
“It has been the longest engagement ever,” the Australian model told the Stellar podcast, Something To Talk About.
“Look, it was always something … that we were in no rush to do. Traditionally everyone’s like: get engaged, plan the wedding, have the kids. I’ve never been a really big wedding girl,” Gale said.
“The whole lot seems like a lot of work for me. I’m just exhausted thinking about it.”
The 49-year-old and Hampson – the former AFL footballer and Survivor Australia – became engaged in 2017. They have two children, son River, 10, and daughter Rosie, 7.

Gale told Something To Talk About she and Hampson agreed it was “more important for me to start a family“ than become engaged.
“But then there was a little thing where I was like … everyone else is getting [engaged]. Is he actually going to ask?
“I thought, he hasn’t even asked and I was getting a little bit funny about that, which is really silly now to think about.
“I think it was more because we had River, and we had Rosie … and it felt like they were the Hampsons and I was Miss Gale over here. I kind of wanted to unite more.
“Then he asked, and I was overjoyed. Then we thought, the kids are here. Let’s wait til they’re old enough to be involved [in a wedding] and remember it.”

As for setting a date? Gale explained: “I don’t know when, where, how … who’s there. It just became too hard.
“Put it this way: there’s no rush. We’ve been together 14 years. I think it would be nice to do someday. Watch this space.”
Meantime, Gale recently returned as a “friend” of department store David Jones, after previously being its face for 15 years.
In the podcast interview, she explains how she has grown more confident in her own skin.
“I think as you get older, you don’t get as caught up and hung up – or if you start to, you
don’t ruminate on it for as long, mostly because you’re too tired and you haven’t got
time,” Gale told Something To Talk About.
“I admit: the other day there was something on Instagram, a comment that someone had written a post that I’d done. It was just button pushing.
“Back in the day if I’d seen a troll or something, I would really think about it: ‘God, I’m going to say something. No … maybe I better think about it.’
“And then it would hurt and it would sit with me.
“Now I can’t be bothered … you don’t really have time.”
