Lisa Kudrow reveals she ‘recently’ found a note from Matthew Perry inside Friends prop

Lisa Kudrow recently made a bittersweet discovery, more than a year on from her beloved co-star’s death.

Even after his untimely passing, Matthew Perry is still finding ways to be there for Lisa Kudrow.

The actress revealed during a new episode of The Drew Barrymore Show that Perry gifted her the iconic “Cookie Time” jar from the Friends set — and she “recently” found something special inside of the prop.

“Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode. And I had recently found the note that he had in it for me,” she told host Drew Barrymore. “I hadn’t looked inside of it, but yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.”

Perry, who famously played Chandler Bing for all ten seasons of Friends, was found dead in his hot tub in October 2023. An autopsy report revealed he died from the “acute effects of ketamine.” Authorities eventually launched an investigation into his death, ultimately charging five people in connection to the overdose.

The actress spoke about her former co-star on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay on the sitcom, previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Perry’s death inspired her to watch Friends for the first time since she had filmed it.

“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK,” she said in the June 2024 interview. “And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].”

Like the rest of the show’s devoted fans, the actress said she finds herself “laughing out loud” while watching Friends.

“Everyone is hilarious,” she told THR. “I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too. Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done.”
