Kate Beckinsale finally reveals reason for weeks-long hospital stay

Actress Kate Beckinsale has finally explained her mysterious lengthy hospital stay – while slamming her “a**hole” followers.

Kate Beckinsale revealed that a hole in her esophagus led to her weeks-long, mysterious hospitalisation earlier this year.

The Serendipity star shared a video of herself on Instagram this week in a barely-there outfit to clap back at “a**holes” who trolled her page, but she ultimately found herself having to defend her weight loss after a critic commented that her “ass ran away.”

“No, actually. I watched my stepfather [director Roy Battersby] die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly,” she responded to the commenter.

Beckinsale, 50, said she spent six weeks in the hospital because the grief had “burned a hole” in her esophagus, which made her “vomit copious amounts of blood.”

“I found eating very hard and I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my ass,” she continued.

“Maybe you should worry about your own f***ing ass,” the actress concluded. “I suggest shoving something up it — like a large pineapple or a brick.”

Beckinsale announced in March she had been hospitalised but did not provide a reason for her medical scare. She continued to post updates over the next month and eventually hinted with a T-shirt that she was dealing with “tummy troubles.”

The Underworld star attended her first public event in early May after being released, and her fresh-faced appearance sparked speculation that she had gone under the knife. She shut the rumours down immediately.

“I used to pluck the s**t out of my eyebrows … I had a fuller face as most of us do in our late teens and 20s. Makeup techniques were matte, not nearly so glossy,” she wrote on social media at the time.

Weeks later, Beckinsale was forced to defend her appearance once again when followers expressed concern about her weight.

“I am trying to survive what feel like unbearable losses, reactivated PTSD from discovering my very young father’s almost dead body as a very young child alone in the night, and working to support the family I have left,” she shared.

“What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family’s is not important.”
