Jackie ‘Jackie O’ Henderson has explained what happened after an encounter with Kyle Sandilands’ brother Chris after the radio star’s wedding on Saturday.

Jackie O and Kyle’s brother Chris had an awkward moment during the ostentatious wedding between Sandilands and now-wife Tegan Kynaston.

In a video posted to Henderson’s Instagram, Henderson can be seen whipping her camera around the reception space, before landing on Chris. She greeted him by name and says, “Chris Sandilands, how beautiful is this?”.

He replied, “It’s amazing, right? Maybe you should spin around and actually look at it.”

Henderson appeased him with a response of “OK, OK, OK”, before turning her camera back around and finding a more receptive person to her cheerful excitement, a smiling guest named Nick.

Sandilands’ brother Chris, a truck driver, is known for his brusque demeanour. He recently made Henderson’s fill-in host Brittany Hockley cry on air when he called up during her broadcast shift to berate her for her voice.

But on Monday morning’s show on KIIS FM, Jackie O insisted Chris hadn’t told her off for filming on her phone.

“He said something like, ‘It’s amazing, maybe you should actually look at the venue’, and people took that to be, ‘Stop filming me and put your phone down’,” she explained on-air.

“When he talks to you, he seems angry all the time. But if you know Chris, you know he doesn’t mean any harm.

Chris then called in to clarify what happened.

“There was no malice in it whatsoever. I was just like, ‘Yeah, everything looks great, why don’t you just spin around and film the venue’,” he said.

Henderson also had a close call earlier in the day when she arrived behind schedule at the ceremony.

In a video posted to the Kyle and Jackie O Instagram page, Henderson was seen arriving and a voice said, “Just in time, Jackie”, while another voice can be heard saying, “She just made it, everyone’s been looking for you on the live [feed].

She replied, “We were trying to get everything together and we were rushed”.

Sandilands and Kynaston married in an expensive wedding ceremony and reception in Sydney at a showcase heritage mansion called “Swifts”, which reportedly cost $20,000 to hire for one night.

Sandilands had boasted of the various costs of his wedding, including $150,000 for the floral arrangements, $100,000 for the entertainment, $75,000 for the food, and $9000 for the cake.

The couple had erected a marquee on site which featured crystal chandeliers. Guy Sebastian serenaded the pair for their first dance, singing Ray Charles’ “Hallelujah I Love Her So”. The cost of the whole affair was said to have run into the seven figures.

As the night went on, the celebrations continued, including a performance of the hora, during which Sandilands and Kynaston were lifted above the dance floor on chairs.

The hora is a dance traditional to Jewish wedding receptions. It was also reported that during the festivities, the couple broke a glass, in another nod to Kynaston’s Jewish faith.

In addition to Henderson and Sebastian, the guest list also included Conrad Sewell, Samantha Ryan, Beau Ryan, Karl Stefanovic, Jeff Fenech and Kings Cross nightclub identity John Ibrahim, who was a groomsman. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns were also in attendance.

“One of the things about Kyle Sandilands, I’ll say this, a bloke who at one stage was homeless, living on the streets of Sydney, and has grown into someone who is a significant public figure, is a part of what is an Australian success story,” Albanese said when asked about his invitation during a National Cabinet press conference on Friday.

Sandilands and Kynaston were friends for five years before their relationship became romantic in 2019 after his split from model Imogen Anthony – his girlfriend of eight years.

Kynaston previously worked as the radio host’s office manager before becoming the communications director at his entertainment company, King Kyle Group.

They were engaged in January 2022 and in August the pair welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Otto.

Last month, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Sandilands admitted he “can’t put a finger on the exact day they fell in love” as their friendship effortlessly evolved into romance.

“She was single and I was single for the first time [in a while]. And I think we never really thought of each other in that way, we just appreciated each other and were genuinely friends. And it just blossomed from there,” he said.

This is Sandilands’ second marriage. He was previously married to singer Tamara Jaber, who rose to fame on the talent show Pop Stars in 2001 when she won a spot in the group Scandal’us.

Sandilands was a judge on the program at the time and the pair began dating after filming.

In 2008, after seven years together, they married at St Brigids Church in Marrickville, Sydney. Their wedding reception was held at the Doltone House in Pyrmont, and like his second wedding, no expense was spared with the event costing seven figures.

“Oh, it cost a million dollars,” he said on The Kyle & Jackie O Show in 2021. “Doltone House, like, it’s just a big hall. I had to change the floor plan so you’d walk downstairs. There were, like, stages built and the [Australian] Idol live crew filmed the wedding video.”

Sandilands and Jaber were divorced two years later in 2010.
