Mariah Carey has all but confirmed her new relationship with singer and record producer Anderson. Paak.
The couple were spotted in LA on Sunday holding hands as they left the Birds Street Cafe in West Hollywood.
Not one to go under the radar, Carey, 55, rocked a sparkling black jacket, miniskirt and knee-high boots, while the 39-year-old musician kept it casual in flannel.
The cosy outing comes one week after. Paak – who makes up one half of the musical superduo Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars – accompanied Carey to the iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Dolby Theater where she received the Icon Award.
Carey was seated beside. Paak during the ceremony, alongside her 13-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan Cannon, who she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
.Paak even escorted the superstar to the stage to accept the coveted award.
Their awards show appearance comes about four months after they reportedly spent time together in Aspen, Colorado for the holidays.
The duo were seen holding hands as they emerged from a dinner date at Duemani restaurant in town.
It’s believed Carey and. Paak became romantic after collaborating and recording music together in the past year. As it turns out, this is the way to Carey’s heart.
In October, when asked in Billboard interview how one would even date Mariah Carey, she revealed that she is rather shy when it comes to dating and she likes to start off as friends.
“I’m more of a friend type of person,” she told the outlet. “Get in on a friendly level. Start there.”
Carey most recently dated back-up dancer Bryan Tanaka for seven years before their break-up in December 2023. The decision to split was said to be “mutual”, with Tanaka, 41, releasing a statement on social media soon after they parted ways.
“Dear friends and fans, with mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together,” he wrote in an Instagram message at the time.
“Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared. The memories we’ve created and the artistic collaborations are etched in my heart forever.”
The couple began working together in 2006 when Tanaka joined her dance crew on the Adventures of Mimi tour.
Prior to that relationship, Carey dated Australian billionaire James Packer. The couple began dating in 2015 and months later, in January 2016, Packer proposed with a 35-carat engagement ring estimated to be worth $US10 million.
After their split, Carey reportedly sold the sparkler to an LA jeweller via her business manager for a rumoured $US2.1 million.
The Fantasy singer was married to Cannon from 2008 to 2016 and her first marriage to record executive Tommy Mottola lasted from 1993 to 1998.
As for. Paak, he filed for divorce from wife Jae Lin Chang last January. The former couple, who were together for 13 years, share two sons: Soul Rasheed, 13, and Shine Tariq, 6.
