The soccer legend has shared an innocent video kissing his 12-year-old daughter Harper on the lips, with his fans rushing to his defence against trolls.

David Beckham has shared a sweet video of himself kissing his 12-year-old daughter Harper.

The British football legend, 48, received overwhelming support from his millions of fans over the clip, which shows Beckham and his youngest child sharing a peck on the lips.

The video, uploaded to Beckham’s Instagram page, showed how Harper was helping her dad get ready for Paris Fashion Week, in which his wife Victoria was hosting a show for her clothing label.

Playing Taylor Swift’s hit song Style, the father-daughter duo were seen singing along to the pop track as Harper applied makeup powder to his face.

At the end of the video, Beckham kisses his daughter to thank her.

The gesture attracted a wave of praise from his followers, while a certain few felt it was odd.

“Every girl needs a father like this in her life,” one supporter wrote. “What a great dad,” another said.

“This is precious,” a third chimed in, while another wrote, “Absolutely heart melting to watch. What a superb father and role model.”

A fifth added, “Don’t be ashamed of kissing your daughter! Your bond is beautiful.”

Harper was prepping her dad for Paris Fashion Week.

There were a few who weren’t so supportive of the video, with one writing, “Beautiful daddy daughter bond but a kiss on the lips doesn’t look right. She is a young lady now not a toddler.”

Beckham has previously attracted negative commentary for his innocent affections with his only daughter. Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan even weighed in, dubbing it “creepy” and “weird”.

In 2020, Victoria, 49, shared a photo of Beckham kissing a then nine-year-old Harper, which caused a stir among the Spice Girl’s followers.

“Adore your family, but never understood those parents’ kisses on the lips. Still the best family,” one commented at the time.

“Why is he kissing her on her lips?” another asked.

“Please stop kissing kids on the lips!!!” a third wrote.

The Beckham family are known to be very close.

Beckham hit out at the criticism back in 2017, insisting he does the same with all of his children because “we want to show our kids love”.

Reacting to the disapproval from some fans, he said, “I got actually criticised for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day. I kiss all my kids on the lips.”

“Brooklyn maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange,” he said.

“But I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.

“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them and we’ve very affectionate with them.”

The power couple share four children, including sons Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18.
