The Bulletin Bachie’s bachelor and bachelorette started off their date night at The Star with one thing already in common — they both have to be up early.
The pair are the winners of an online competition, chosen by readers as the Gold Coast’s most eligible duo.
For 30-year-old Ashleigh Harris, owner of Pawsh Pet Spa, it’s her first time ever going on a blind date.
“I work quite long hours, from 6am until 8 or 9pm, so it doesn’t leave a lot of time,” she said.
“I finished work, got ready in 15 minutes and came here.
“I’m not looking for true love, if it appears that’s awesome, but I’m willing to try something I’ve never done before.”
Ironman and engineer Hayden White said he planned to hit the pool at 4am this morning.
“This whole thing is surreal … I wasn’t ready at all, I don’t know if that’s a good way to put it,” he said.

“I thought it was all a bit funny because one of my mates put it in, and I had a feeling I may get close to winning … because of the amount of traction it got.
“And then when I won I was kind of like ‘oh no, this is real’, like anyone would be.”
As for what she thought of her unexpected dinner mate, Ms Harris kept it short and sweet.
“He’s cute!” she said.
